If you want different default fonts or sizes for different types of documents, you can set up several templates and use File > New > Templates and Documents (instead of File > New) to choose one when starting a new document. When I go back to the document I am working on the font and size (Arial 12pt) work as they have been set in the options. I have reset the font and font size in the options menu under styles to Arial 12pt and saved the changes. You can also set margins, spacing, paragraph spacing, printer setup in the default template. When I start a new document in X5 I select the text tool and the default font is Souvenir 5pt. Now any text documents you create with File > New (or the New icon) will have the typeface and size you want. Select the template you just created, then click Commands > Set As Default Template. To make this template the default template, use File > Templates > Organize.(You can put it anywhere you like, but that makes it easy to find again.) Click OK. Give the template a name and save it in the Default folder. As it wraps the text into a circle Fontwork adjusts the size of the type to fit. To save this document as a template, use File > Templates > Save. Fontwork is also available in OpenOffice Draw, Impress and Calc.On the Font tab, set the required typeface and size. Right-click on Default and choose Modify. Press F11 to open the Styles and Formatting window.Select the font from the drop-down lists. (Optional) Use Tools > Options > Text Document > Basic Fonts.This is especially a problem when working with asian languages. Then make the document into a template and set it as the default template. Changing default font: Impress & Draw: Issue 70585 : It should be possible to change the overall default font for text (not the GUI) in Impress permanently, using one centralized setting, for example Options -> -> fonts -> Change default font or somewhere similar. To change the size of the default font as well as the font itself, make the change in the default paragraph style. You can set the default font in Tools > Options > Text Document > Basic Fonts, but that doesn't change the size of the font. This article shows you how to change that.
